Bring your own spinning wheel

How to know if this workshop is for you: you are a new or not-so-new spinner; you have a wheel at home that does not perform as you expected; you have been gifted a wheel and are not sure how to work with it; you would like to purchase a new wheel and you do not know what would be best for you. Or…any or all of the above!

This workshop addresses the various types of wheels, how to recognize them and how to adjust each one for a smooth spinning experience. We will dive into troubleshooting, adjusting, maintaining our wheels with a special emphasis on the great wheel. Bring your wheels to the workshop for assessment and trouble shooting. This is a fun and interactive laid-back workshop where we all will learn from each other.

Maryelle Compton has demonstrated cotton and wool spinning at the museum for the past four years. An avid, life-long knitter, she learned to spin twelve years ago and has since experimented with prepared wool, raw fleeces and silk.
