Create a traditional market basket using the stake and strand method of weaving with rattan. You’ll learn to set up a base, weave around a stationary handle and attach a rim to your own basket to take home.

Janette Eitel has been weaving baskets for 15 plus years using traditional materials as well as things like pine needles, paper, willow and forage materials. She has studied basketry at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Lincoln University Willow Gathering and NBO National Convention, as well as at numerous conferences and events.

Contributions and proceeds from this event go to the Historic Arkansas Museum Foundation. The Foundation exists to support the Historic Arkansas Museum through activities that foster history and cultural education.
