History is Served (Curbside!) Exploring the Arkansas Delta: Tamales & BBQ

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday July 16

4:00 PM  –  9:00 PM

2020 History is Served explores cultures, communities, and cuisine of the Arkansas Delta. We’ll start by serving up iconic dishes from the Delta—hot tamales and barbeque—as a window into the African American community of the Delta. Chef Gilbert Alaquinez of the lab food truck will take a cue from the traditional, reimagine it, and present a creative, modern interpretation. Each of the courses will be inspired by Arkansas Made historic foodways research.

The dinners will be picked up curbside and there will be a virtual program with author Dr. Jessica B. Harris, 2020 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and Anne Martin, author of Delta Hot Tamales: History, Stories, and Recipes, that can be viewed that night or at a later time. Purchase a copy of Delta Hot Tamales with your dinner ticket, or purchase a dinner ticket only..
